And lookout when things go wrong – because things will go wrong ; the consumer will have no way of enforcing any action as the company was not even registered and no physical address exists.

Using an AFRA member is the main rule when choosing a furniture removalist. AFRA is the Australian Furniture Removers Association. To become an AFRA member removalist companies must reach the required standard in areas such as staff training, correct insurance policies, correct equipment, suitable premises, secure storage facilities and a competent trading record. All AFRA members will carry the correct public liability and additionally only AFRA members are legally entitled to offer full insurance for goods in transit and storage. Mini-movers busy shifting flood victims furniture

THE switchboard at Mini Movers at Acacia Ridge and all their trucks are on the road moving furniture from houses under flood threat.
Mini Movers owner Mike O’Hagan said the company had to evacuate its own flood-affected premises at Rocklea to its headquarters at Acacia Ridge but was working with all 45 of its trucks moving flood-affected residents.

“We’ve got trucks everywhere, only moving people who are flood affected,’’ he said.

“Half our staff (in the office) whose homes are flood-affected have gone home but not the boys on the trucks.’‘

Mr O’Hagan said residents had called from across Brisbane to move furniture from downstairs to upstairs, to storage sheds or to friends houses.
He said most calls had come from Chelmer, Indooroopilly, West End and Fig Tree Pocket.
